Communications for hotels
Guests expect everything to work – around the clock. I make sure room phones, front desk, staff and emergency calls work together reliably, in Germany and in Spain.
Hands-on experience: for the Hyatt Regency Cologne I implemented the telephony with high-density analogue gateways, reused the existing two-wire cabling to the rooms and connected the hotel interfaces.

Hotel telephony with PMS integration
The phone system works hand in hand with your property management system (PMS). What is booked at the front desk is automatically reflected in the room.
- Check-in and check-out enable or restrict the room phone
- Guest name and language shown on the front-desk phone
- Wake-up calls, message waiting, do-not-disturb
- Room status and minibar via phone codes for housekeeping
- Call charging per room
- Existing analogue room phones reused via analogue gateways
- SIP trunk, front desk and operator consoles, multilingual announcements
DECT for staff
Front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, kitchen and management can be reached anywhere on the property – including basements, car parks and the pool area.
- Radio site survey before planning, so there are no dead spots
- Rugged handsets, with alarm button on request
- Messages and alarms delivered straight to the handset
- Group calls, e.g. "maintenance" or "first aid"
- Expandable across several buildings
Emergency and call systems
When a guest needs help, every minute counts. Calls from rooms and bathrooms must reliably reach the right member of staff – and be acknowledged.
Where call systems must comply with standards (e.g. DIN VDE 0834 in Germany or the applicable local regulations), I work with certified specialist contractors and take care of the integration with the phone system and DECT.
- Emergency number 112 from every room, with simultaneous notification of the room number to the front desk
- Emergency pull cords and buttons in accessible rooms and bathrooms
- Forwarding to DECT handsets with acknowledgement
- Escalation if nobody responds (e.g. front desk → night shift → management)
- Integration of lift emergency calls and building alarms
- Log of who responded and when
Wi-Fi & network
Telephony, point-of-sale, guest Wi-Fi and building systems now share the same network. To keep them from interfering, it has to be properly segmented and planned.
- Separate networks for guests, staff, telephony and building systems (VLAN)
- Coverage planning and access point layout
- Voice quality through QoS – including Wi-Fi phones
- Firewall rules and secure remote access
- Vendor-independent; hardware to your specification or from trusted partners
On-site & remote support
Most faults I resolve remotely – fast and without travel. For installation, acceptance and larger changes I come to the property, including in Spain, for example the Balearic Islands or Catalonia.
- Maintenance contracts up to 24/7 with defined response times
- Secure remote access via agreed connections
- Scheduled on-site visits, e.g. before the season
- Documentation and user guides in German, English and Spanish
- One dedicated contact for hotel, IT and vendor
New build, refurbishment or system replacement?
Tell me briefly about your property: number of rooms, current system, timeline. I will come back with a first assessment.
